Domestic Violence

Special bureaus handle these types of cases at each DA’s office. Domestic Violence (DV) involves instances of assault, menacing or harassment against one’s spouse, one’s child, domestic partner, or a person whom you have a child in common. The penalties for DV cases are usually more severe than random acts between strangers. Orders of Protection are commonly issued and counseling programs such as Anger Management or Parenting Skills are usually required.
